It is HOT

I haven’t updated for a few days (weeks? Who knows) as we’ve mainly been on the road doing some overnight stops in various towns. We’ve figured a few things along the way…

France is hot. Very hot! I don’t know if this is normal or if there is a freak heatwave, but it seems moving toward the mountains to keep cool is just not working as planned. 37° today and climbing, and I don’t think we took this into account before we left so the van is hot and stuffy, outside is hot and stuffy and basically walking aroumd has become a task.

But

I’m not complaining. We are lucky enough to be here and we are making the most out of it. So much so that we thought f#@% it and spent a fortune on a campsite near Lyon that has swimming pools and waterslides, just to keep cool. It also only serves Stella so I guess either me or Luke are in for a beating later, time will tell.

We’ve got really good at keeping ourselves occupied, seeing sites, wandering around empty towns (I assume everyone is indoors because its too hot outside) and drinking lager.

With any luck this pandemic will ease off a little and we will get to Italy at some point. But for now, being in cold water is the way forward. Paddle boarding in Annecy next!!

Feel sorry for us, rain and wind today, wearing coats! More lovely scenery and I see Luke has made a friend! Paddling boarding should be interesting. X
