Florence seems just a lifetime ago now and we are just about at our two-month mark! The days disappear so easily when you’re having fun. And fun we had at Lago di Garda.
We had a three day pitstop at a free camping area on the River Po on the way. We shared it with one other camper for the first night but then had the whole place to ourselves after. With electric and water, amazing sunsets and friendly locals it’s actually a shock this place wasn’t packed.
We had a few days to unwind though which was much needed, especially before such an adventure packed few days at Lake Garda…
First day we went to Gardaland (all my doing – I love a good roller coaster) and it was a lot of fun. We managed all the big rides, ate donuts and got very wet on the water rides because we sat at the front (again, all my doing).
We then had a day of work (me) and PlayStation (Luke). He might argue he worked harder to complete his game but whatever. Then moved on up the lake to do a day of canyoning!
Now, take into consideration I’m not the best with mountains and huge drops, it’s fair to say I was crapping myself. But we rocked up, and went all in. Our guide through http://www.outdoorplanet.net called Daniel provided a lot of laughs throughout the day with his calm and unbothered demeanour, but always had our safety as his priority.
We hiked a little way to the top of the route and then basically made our way back down through a series of slides, pool jumps and abseiling rock faces. I stopped at the first jump. It was about 20 feet. I don’t know, it seemed like 100 to me. But after about 15 mins of pep talks from Luke and the guide, I jumped. Probably nothing to most people but I have never been happier with myself HA!
We honestly had so much fun and felt damn accomplished by the end of it so treated ourselves to a nice indian curry and an early night.
I’ve also found some time to start painting. Decided to paint the board at the back of the kitchen, it’s no where near finished but I’m making a start and if it cools down again I’ll be able to do some more without my paints drying out every 5 seconds!
But anyway, pictures!
